Maintenance work: Temporary disruption to technical systems

From 29 May to 1 June, the DPMA will not be able to accept electronic applications for intellectual property rights – The Office will also be unavailable by telephone, email and online – Paper applications can still be submitted

Due to urgent maintenance work, the technical systems of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA) will be unavailable from 29 May to 1 June 2026. During this period, the DPMA will not be able to accept any electronic submissions relating to intellectual property rights – not even by fax. Furthermore, the Office will not be reachable by telephone or email. The regular DPMA website will also be unavailable; a notice regarding the maintenance work will be displayed at www.dpma.de. According to current plans, the work will take place from Friday (29 May 2026) at 2 p.m. until Monday (1 June 2026) at 12 noon.

However, on maintenance days, it is still possible to submit documents relating to intellectual property rights in paper form. Documents can be handed in to the porter in the main building at Zweibrückenstraße 12 in Munich. Submissions are recorded there with a date stamp and a note of the time. Night-time postboxes with automatic registration are available at the Berlin and Jena sites. In addition, individual Patent Information Centres (PIZ) accept documents relating to intellectual property rights on behalf of the DPMA.
