In addition to current technology trends, the DPMA Annual Report 2021 once again contains lots of statistics. The report also tells exciting stories - from the 125th anniversary of the death of aviation pioneer Otto Lilienthal to trademarks related to Mickey Mouse. We also offer a new digital version: reader-friendly, multimedia and ideal for mobile devices. The PDF version will follow soon.

Seeing the crisis as an opportunity

In the Annual Report 2020, the DPMA provides information on current trends concerning the industrial property rights patent, utility model, trade mark and design. "The effects of the Corona pandemic have also shaped the past year for us," said DPMA President Cornelia Rudloff-Schäffer. "However, in addition to unpleasant consequences, there are also bright spots that make me optimistic." For the first time, we are offering the Annual Report 2020 as an interactive digital version in addition to the print version.

In addition to technology trends and useful information on IP procedures, the report also offers entertaining reading: In 2019, the DPMA celebrated its reopening after World War II 70 years ago. The new start was an eventful and exciting time. In addition, the importance of IP rights in pop culture is highlighted with Mickey Mouse, Star Wars, the Simpsons and Co. and the most famous patent examiner of all times, Albert Einstein, is honored on his 140th birthday.
