Press release of 10 August 2023

Munich. As part of a nationwide campaign week, the Association of German Patent Information Centres (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Patentinformationszentren e.V. – PIZnet) provides free consultations on how to manage IP rights. From 18 to 24 September 2023, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), start-ups and founder teams will learn how to commercially exploit patents, utility models, trade marks, designs and copyright. The consultations providing guidance and orientation (no legal advice) will take place at 16 locations of German patent information centres. The concept of the campaign week, developed by the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA) in cooperation with PIZnet, was met with great response during the campaign weeks organised in the past six years.

Individual advice for every company

The individual and unbiased consultations providing guidance and orientation show companies the potential of intellectual property (IP) in their respective business sector.

Interested in success stories? In the past years, a number of companies have obtained advice during the campaign week and, additionally, at the patent information centres. They share their experience on our externer Link LinkedIn channel

The exclusive and free services offered as part of the campaign week include:

  • a brief analysis of about two hours concerning all company-specific IP areas;
  • an initial assessment of the company’s IP situation and the resulting economic opportunities and risks;
  • the joint evaluation of how to best use IP at the company and, at the same time, the development of approaches to gaining strategic competitive advantages;
  • an auditor report including valuable information on the optimisation of the company’s IP situation.

The German Patent and Trade Mark Office

Inventiveness and creativity need effective protection. The DPMA is the German centre of expertise for all intellectual property rights – patents, utility models, trade marks and registered designs. The largest national patent office in Europe and the fifth largest national patent office in the world, our office stands for the future of Germany as a country of inventors in a globalised economy. Its staff of just under 2,800 at three locations – Munich, Jena and Berlin – provide services for inventors and companies. They implement federal innovation strategies and develop the national, European and international protection systems.
