The DPMA is full of colour!

World map

Our world map is diverse: the staff at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office come from 49 countries

We’re taking part in German Diversity Day 2026

"When diversity wins, we all win." This is the motto of this year's German Diversity Day. The DPMA is shaped by a diverse range of people, experiences and perspectives. Staff from 49 countries bring their ideas, backgrounds and viewpoints to our day-to-day work. It is precisely this openness and diversity that makes our collaboration so strong.

On German Diversity Day, we are sending a clear message of respect, equal opportunities and mutual appreciation. By signing the Diversity Charter, we have committed ourselves to a working environment free from prejudice.

Bringing different perspectives to light

The DPMA Diversity World Map illustrates just how international the DPMA is: colleagues from 49 countries help shape day-to-day working life at the DPMA. A total of 2,803 employees work at the DPMA – of whom 2,449 are based in Munich, 298 in Jena and 56 in Berlin. People from different generations and with different life experiences work together here. 2,130 employees work full-time, 581 part-time.

Experiencing and reflecting on openness

Slogan: When diversity wins, we all win.

To mark Diversity Day 2026, a Diversity Check on the intranet invites our employees to become more aware of different aspects of diversity – such as age, migration background and nationality, gender and gender identity, physical and mental abilities, religion and beliefs, sexual orientation and social background.

Diversity Day thus also offers an opportunity to focus on our daily interactions: What unites us? What perspectives do others bring to the table? And how can we work together to create a working environment in which everyone feels respected and valued?

Diversity as a strength

Different perspectives broaden our outlook, encourage dialogue and strengthen collaboration within the DPMA. This is also evident in management roles: the proportion of women in management positions stands at 38.53 per cent (168 out of 436 managers). 14.45 per cent of managers (63 out of 436) work part-time.

In addition, 242 people with disabilities work at the DPMA. Respectful and open cooperation is therefore not just the focus of a single action day, but part of our working culture. (All figures given reflect the situation as at 31 December 2025.)

A visible commitment to diversity

The externer Link German Diversity Day is a nationwide day of action organised by the Charta der Vielfalt e.V. Through this initiative, companies and institutions demonstrate their visible commitment to diversity, equal opportunities and respectful coexistence in the workplace.
