Information on Cross-Border Credit Transfers

Allow time for credit transfer

If you pay your fees into a bank outside the SEPA payment area, please clarify beforehand how much lead time is required for the credit transfer so that the fee payment is received by the DPMA in due time. Your IP rights will lapse if the fee payment is late. That is why the day of payment is essential!

Consider the transfer charges for cross-border credit transfer

Banks will often levy charges for cross-border credit transfer, which will be deducted from the amount transferred. Consequently, less than the full fee amount will possibly be received by the DPMA. We recommend that you explicitly instruct your bank before payment that all transfer charges incurred will be borne by you separately and will not be deducted from the amount to be transferred.
If the fees due are not paid in full or not paid in due time to the DPMA, your IP request or your application will be deemed to be withdrawn, pursuant to the provisions of the Act.
