German Patent and Trade Mark Office at the Long Night of the Sciences in Berlin

Press release of 20 June 2017

Munich/Berlin. On Saturday this week, the Long Night of the Sciences will be held for the 17th time in Berlin and Potsdam. From 17.00 to midnight, 70 institutions, among them the Berlin office of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA), will open their doors to knowledge-thirsty guests and invite them to actively participate in the "smartest night of the year".

How do new things come into the world?

The Technical Information Centre of the DPMA will look into this question by presenting its varied programme: the creative process of innovation - ranging from the technical problem to the "flash of Inspiration" to the implementation of the invention - will be vividly traced in this science night. Together with this year's cooperation partners, Art & Science Node (ASN) and STATE, the programme offered by the DPMA (in German) will take big and small inventors and discoverers along to the exciting world of invention, creativity and technology.

This night is all about:

  • Black or with milk? - patents for enjoying coffee
  • Art meets science
  • Designing the future: prototype engineering
  • Patents and other IP rights under discussion
  • Guided tours of the historical building

and much more

Detailed information on the Long Night of the Sciences 2017 in Berlin and Potsdam is available here.
