Notice No. 5/2021
of the President of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office of 10 September 2021 concerning the issuing of acknowledgements of receipt
The DPMA abandons with immediate effect its previous practice to confirm receipt of incoming mail by placing a receipt stamp on a copy or any other enclosed document (if so requested) with respect to all IP procedures.
This also applies to all submissions in connection with payments; the last bullet point of item 2 of Notice No. 7/11 of the President of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office of 24 May 2011, which contains information about the issuing of acknowledgements of receipt relating to payments, is also cancelled with immediate effect.
The sending of acknowledgements of receipt concerning all IP applications (as provided for in section 8 (2) of the DPMA Ordinance) remains unaffected.
