The register of anonymous and pseudonymous works does not constitute a documentation of all works protected by copyright. It is of relevance for the term of copyright of anonymous works or works published under a pseudonym. Authors may have their true names recorded in the register for works which they have previously published anonymously or under a pseudonym, and thus extend copyright protection.
Whereas copyright generally expires 70 years after the author's death, it expires 70 years after publication when works have been published anonymously or under a pseudonym. If a request is filed for recording the true name of the author in the register kept at the DPMA, copyright expires 70 years after the author's death.
